Cardinal Gabriel in Wau for Eucharistic Congress

The leader of the Catholic Church His Eminence Gabriel Cardinal Zuber Wako has left Juba this morning for Wau, Western Bahr El Ghazel ahead of the Eucharistic Congress and the Golden Jubilee next week.

The Cardinal who is also Emeritus Archbishop of Khartoum arrived in Wau on Tuesday to take part in the remarkable occasion of the Catholic Church on 26th November.

Upon arrival, Cardinal Wako called on South Sudanese to unite as one body, brothers and sisters, and to work together to overcome all the difficulties facing the country.

Voice of Hope radio reported that the new Cardinal of South Sudan, His Eminence Stephen Ameyu Martin Mulla together with the Vatican Ambassador to South Sudan and Kenya and other Church leaders are expected to arrive this week.

The Bishop of Wau Catholic Diocese, Matthew Remijio Adam applauds the faithful in Wau for their massive turn up while receiving His Eminence Cardinal Gabriel Zubier Wako, a native of that area.

“I am very grateful to the faithful and state Government representative for coming up to receive Gabriel Cardinal Zubier Wako for the Eucharistic celebration and by Thursday other Bishops will be coming for the celebration in the Diocese” he narrates.

His Lordship Matthew Remijio Adam appeals to the faithful to be cooperative with the bishop since they are coming for them.

The launching of the Eucharistic Congress and the Golden Jubilee Hierarchy will take place in the Catholic Diocese of Wau on 26 November 2023 and the closing of the Eucharistic Congress will be celebrated at the Archdiocese of Juba on the 24 of November next year 2024.
