The High Court in Kator is expected to announce its final verdict in a case of the slain Catholic nun: Sister Veronika Theresa Rackova on Tuesday 14th November this year.

The high court was expected to announce its ruling last month on 24th October but it was adjourned due to the non-appearance of the accused and the defense lawyers from the national security.

The prosecution advocate for the slain Catholic nun, James Paulono Lado said the session was adjourned due to the absence of his counterpart, Counsel Akoth Maduok from the national security legal team.

He said the team from the other side requested another date which is 14th November 2023.

According to Lado, Counsel Akoth Maduok was out of Juba, purposely to pay salaries to the organized forces in another state last month.

One accused among the six suspects appeared in Court at Kator and was questioned by Judge, Justice Nicholas Makuach Bol and crossed examined by both prosecution advocate and his defence lawyer .

The accused refuted all allegations put against him as being the mastermind in command that led to the killing of the Catholic Sister.

After listening to all the evidence and statements from the witnesses, the presiding judge at Kator High Court will make a ruling on whether the defendant is guilty or not guilty on Tuesday 14th November 2023.

The Catholic Sister was killed in 2016 by suspected soldiers from the organized forces in Yei.

This case has been in Court since 10th January 2021 at the Juba High Court of South Sudan in a series of investigations under different four judges namely, Judge Sumeiya Salah, Justice Alexander Sabur Subek, and now Justice Nicholas Makuach Bol respectively.
