President Kiir departs to Saudi Arabia for Arab-Africa Summit

President Kiir on Thursday left Juba for Saudi Arabia’s capital, Riyadh to participate in the First Saudi-African leaders summit expected to be held on Friday 10th November 2023.

The Saudi-African leaders summit is called by King Salman bin Abdulaziz with the aims of  strengthening political, economic and social cooperation between Saudi Arabia and the African continent.

According to the Presidential Press Secretary Lily Adhieu, the one day summit aims to identify mechanism for bilateral cooperation, building a common vision through knowledge-sharing and experiences.

It also meant to bolster cross and sectorial cooperation, identify projects and frameworks for improving bilateral and multilateral ties between Saudi and African countries.

The organisers says discussion at the summit will revolve around supporting joint actions, enhancing political coordination, addressing regional security threats, and facilitating economic transformation through research and the local development of new energy solutions.

President Kiir is accompanied by a number of cabinet members and other relevant government officials.
