The Body of the catholic bishop, late Emeritus Bishop Paride Taban who died in Nairobi, Kenya last week, arrived in Juba this morning, Tuesday 7th November
The 87-year-old Emeritus Bishop Paride Taban died last week, 1st of November in Nairobi, Kenya after illness, the Bishops, Conference of Sudan and South Sudan announced in a message posted on its social media when the late catholic bishop passed on.
The casket arrived at Juba International Airport at 8;30 AM and was received by the Axillary Bishop of Juba Archdiocese, Santo Laku Pio, and the new Cardinal, Stephen Cardinal Ameyu Mulla who led a brief prayers for the late Bishop at the airport.
His Eminence Stephen Cardinal Ameyu told the bereaved people to mourn late Emeritus Bishop Paride Taban in a Christian way with respect as people who have hope in resurrection.
He therefore described the late Paride as a great leader who fought spiritually and for the liberation of South Sudan.
Vice President Wani Igga said late Paride was a liberator who did a lot of great things for the country and his contributions are immersed.
The casket was then paraded by mourners including his immediate family members to Saint Theresa Cathedral-Kator where a requiem mass will be conducted at 2 PM in the afternoon to be presided over by His Eminence Gabriel Cardinal Zubair Wako.
Communication from the chairman central organising committee his Lordship Santo Laku Pio indicates that, on Wednesday 8th November 2023, the casket will be flown to Saint Francis Parish in Nimule and will stay there overnight.
On Thursday 9th November 2023, the casket will then proceed to Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral in Torit where the final sendoff will be done on Friday 10th November 2023.
Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am after which the late Bishop Paride Taban will be laid to rest in the Cathedral of Saint Peter and Paul – Torit same day in the afternoon.
