South Sudan first Cardinal returns to Juba from Rome

The new Cardinal His Eminence Stephen Ameyu Martin returns home today 30th October from Rome, Italy.

The new Cardinal arrived at Juba International Airport at 10:00 AM and was received by His Eminence emeritus Cardinal Gabriel Zubeir Wako,Church members and South Sudanese communities.

The reception committee has designated categories, and people grounded at the airport to warmly welcome the Cardinal with songs of praise from the choirs of Saint Joseph Parish, Catholic University of South Sudan, and Saint Mary College.

Other groups include; Saint Kizito Parish Holy Rosary, Holy Cross, Terekeka Pastoral Region, Saint Charles Lwanga Lokiliri, church personnel, cultural groups, government officials, and protocol staff.

According to the tentative plans, the Cardinal together with the faithful would proceed to the Cathedral to greet and bless the congregation.

Thanksgiving mass will be officiated on the 4th of November on Satuday this week at Saint Theresa Cathedral where different dignitaries will deliver speeches and present gifts.

His Eminence Stehen Ameyu was elevated together with other 21 Catholic Bishops to Cardinals in a consistory held in Vatican on the 30th of September this year.
