Govt pledge to implement outcome of National Economic conference

President Kiir says governments will fully implement the resolutions of the just concluded National Economic Conference.

The first ever National Economic Conference towards a diversified, inclusive and sustainable economic growth commenced on Monday, 04th and concluded on Saturday 9th September 2023 in Juba.

The conference aimed to address economic reforms through transformation and diversification in areas of investment opportunities to stimulate economic growth.

In his address during the closing event on Saturday, President Kiir said, this would help steer the country’s economy towards a diversified growth.

The President said that the prevailing peace and stability in South Sudan are key conditions for the country’s economic growth and development.

 “We have peace now and the country is more stable compared to the previous years, therefore, peace is a key condition for economic development”.

The resolutions of the conference would be presented to the Council of Ministers and consequently to the Parliament for final endorsement.

In his address to the National Assembly in March this year, President Kiir directed the Ministry of Finance and Planning to hold the conference in order to urgently address the economic challenges affecting the country.
