The Media Authority of South Sudan has issued a stern warning against the printing, publication, and circulation of the wrong version of the National flag.
In a memo released on Friday, the Managing Director of the Media Authority, Elijah Alier Kuai, emphasized the need for immediate compliance with the correct official version of the flag.
“The Media Authority has observed with great concern the printing and circulation of different versions of the South Sudan National flag in the country and at some Diplomatic missions abroad,” the Memo reads in part.
Mr. Alier further cautioned media houses, printing companies, and advertisers regarding the printing and circulation of the wrong version of the South Sudan National flag.
He said, “Media Houses, Advertisement and printing companies are hereby cautioned to immediately cease any printing of the National flag.”
According to the directive, failure to comply with the new regulations will result in penalties for printing and advertisement companies.
The Managing Director also instructs all levels of government and public institutions to remove any incorrect or substandard versions of the flag and replace them with the correct official version.
“Printing, publication, and circulation of the wrong version of the South Sudan National Flag is prohibited. Failure to comply will incur penalties to the printing and advertisement companies,” he stated.
In a related development, the Ministry of Presidential Affairs has been urged to ensure an adequate supply of national flags for all states and administrative areas, in line with the resolutions of the 5th Governors’ Forum held in November 2021.
The statement reads, “All levels of Government and public institutions are hereby advised to remove all wrong and substandard versions of the South Sudan National Flag and replace them with the right version.”
The Media Authority’s move aims to uphold the integrity and symbolism of the South Sudan National flag, which represents the nation’s identity and unity.
The flag consists of three broad horizontal stripes of black, red, and green, with a blue triangle on the hoist side and a golden star in the center.
The South Sudanese government’s warning comes as a response to the circulation of incorrect versions of the flag, which can lead to confusion and misrepresentation
