Vatican Secretary regrets impact of Sudan’s conflict in Malakal

The Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin is worrying about the impact of Sudan’s war that cause loss of lives, displacement, and poverty to thousands of people.

This came after His Eminence Pietro Parolin paid a courtesy visit to camps where returnees and refugees are living and listen to their concerns.

The displaced person shared a report on the conditions indicating that the conflict and floods have created suffering among women and children.

Cardinal Parolin said the war in Sudan destroys everything and the Church regrets the losses.

“The war has destroyed everything, the war has destroyed lives, the war has destroyed community, the war has destroyed properties, and we feel very sorry for what has happened to the people of Sudan,” he said.

Cardinal Parolin explained that his visit comes in solidarity with the Pope’s prayer for the people of Sudan and the Catholic Church to those returning to South Sudan.

“I’m here also on behave of the Holy Father to show to the people of Malakal Solidarity of the same Holy Father and the solidarity of the Catholic Church, especially those of you who found yourself in such a difficult stressing situation,” Parolin added.

Cardinal Parolin pledged that, the Vatican will play a role in pressuring the international community and pushing for a solution of return to your places of origin with dignity.

Bishop Stephen Nyodho Ador said the visit of the Vatican Secretary of State has brought hope to the citizens.
