The Secretary of Vatican City, His Eminence Cardinal Pietro Parolin arrived in Malakal to meet refugees and returnees displaced from Sudan.
This is the first time Cardinal Parolin visited the area following the invitation from Bishop Stephen Nyodho Ador last year
Hundreds of believers, Church leaders, and State authorities welcome the Cardinal at Malakal Airport
His Eminence Parolin told the crowd that he bring them greetings of Pope Francis and the memories of his recent visit to South Sudan.
“It is a great pleasure to be with you today in Malakal and I greet all of you, starting from the Bishop, H.E the governor, thank you for being here, Madam Angelina, and all the authorities here presenc. on behave of the Holy father Pope Francis, who visited this beautiful country and he has many good memories of his visit.”
Paroline said the he was inivited by the Archbishop of Juba Stephen Ameyu since the first time he came to South Sudan.
“I’m here because Archbishop Stephen invited me since we met the first time in Juba, he said I must come and visit Malakal.”
The Archbishop of the Catholic Diocese of Malakal, Dr. Stephen Nyodho, welcomed the visit of the Cardinal and his accompanying delegation.
Upper Nile State Governor James Ooduk described the visit of Cardinal Parolin as a blessing for the people of Malakal to boast the peace among the communities.
