South Sudan leaders discussed the budget with a focus on the issue of the deficits and mechanisms to improve salaries of the civil servants, military and organized forces.

During the meeting on Friday, members from different political parties agreed to talk to their Parliamentary Caucuses to unify their position in passing the national budget as soon as possible.

President Salva Kiir Mayardit chaired the meeting and appealed to the political parties to speak with one voice on the current budget

The Minister of Presidential Affairs Dr. Barnaba Marial Benjamin says the country’s top leadership is committed to a budget that satisfies the salary scale of the civil servants, military and organized forces.

“The meeting explored ways to diversify revenue collection in regards to oil production, as the government looks forward to solving some of the problems, like strengthening our pounds so that the salaries given to civil servants, military and organized forces can be a living wage that a family can afford to have dinner at the table”, Maria said.
