The St. Joseph’s English Choir of the Archdiocese of Juba celebrated its golden jubilee today at the St. Joseph’s Parish.
The founding choir of the church was joined by the Cardinal-elect, His Eminent Stephen Ameyu Martin Mulla, who presided over the mass at the cathedral.
The choir was founded in 1972 by a group of young people who wanted to sing in English and today marks their 50 years in the service of the Lord.
The choir has since grown to become one of the most popular and respected choirs in the country.
The group has performed at many important events, including the inauguration of the president of South Sudan.
The choir’s jubilee was celebrated with a mass, a feast, and a concert. The mass was attended by hundreds of people, including the Cardinal-elect, the Archbishop of Juba, and the Minister of Culture.
A traditional South Sudanese meal, and the concert featured performances by the choir and other local artists.
