Police reported that four people sustained gunshots after armed men attacked government security at the Church behind the National Legislative Assembly on Tuesday, July 4th, 2023.

Shootings were heard yesterday at Nakasongola Church after the court-ordered demolition of the Church.

Police Spokesperson, Gen. Daniel Justin says the dispute was between the Parliament and the Church over the ownership of that land.

He claimed that the plot belong to the parliament ruled by the court but the armed man resisted the court’s orders and opened fire to the demolition team.

Justine reveals that the attack on the demolition team has injured four people, two from armed forces and two civilians shot in the crossfire.

Members of the church criticized the government for demolishing the house of the lord.

The latest report indicated that one civilian wounded during the shooting died identified as Deng Makhon Golong, a student from Elit High School.

The deceased family reported that Deng was caught in the crossfire while going about his daily duty running a mobile money shop in Customs. Police said the situation is calm.
