Catholic Archbishop, Stephen Ameyu of Juba Archdiocese is urging the communities to stop demanding high bride prices.
The Archbishop presided over the Masss during St. Peter Apostle Parish celebrated its feast on Sunday in Rokon.
Ameyo disclosed that youth are getting married in unlawful ways due to high bride prices. He called for the reduction of the dowries so that marriages can be blessed in the church.
” In the Western world, people marry because of love and people congratulate them,” he said.
Archbishop appealed to farmers and cattle herders to live in peace after revealing that farmers and cattle herders are not living on good terms as they fight every time.
The Catholic prelate made these remarks during the feast of St Peter Apostle Parish of Rokon. He was escorted by the bishop of the Episcopal Church.
