South Sudan President Salva Kiir and his South African counterpart, Cyril Ramaphosa, held talks in Pretoria on Wednesday discussing “issues of mutual concerns and the ongoing conflict in Sudan.”

The Spokesperson of the South African president, Vincent Magwenya says the two leaders will examine the progress of the implementation of the 2018 “revitalized peace agreement” in South Sudan.

In a statement, he revealed that there would be no media coverage of the talks for the two Heads of State.

President Kiir visited South Africa this week aimed at enhancing bilateral relations between the two countries.

The South Sudan President’s visit comes at a time when serious crises are unfolding in neighboring Sudan and has forced more than 100,000 South Sudanese refugees to flee back to their homeland.

The ongoing conflict in Sudan was a key topic of discussion during the meeting between Presidents Kiir and Ramaphosa.

The two leaders are expected to work together to find a solution to the conflict and promote peace in the region.

South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit left the country on Tuesday to meet with his South African counterpart, Cyril Ramphosa in Pretoria for bilateral talks and the mitigation solutions to the Sudan conflict.
