State House Promises National Journalists to Interview President Kiir

The President’s press Secretary Lily Adhieu Martin vowed to allow national Journalists to interview President Kiir in the presidential palace annually.

This came during the meeting between the Press secretary and the media managers on Thursday in Juba

President’s press Secretary discusses ways to streamline the working relationship between the state house and the media in South Sudan to ensure timely news flow.

Hon. Lily says asks the media houses to assign two permanent reporters that will be accredited and cover the events at the office of the president and State House. This is allowed media access to news from the country’s top office.

The move is welcomed by the media managers and editors who participated in the discussion

The Union of Journalists in South Sudan (UJOSS)’s Chairperson, Patrick Oyet commended the move by the presidential press Unit for engaging all the media managers.

Mr. Oyet promised a strong working relationship between the media and every government institution in South Sudan. Since South Sudan gained her Independence in 2011, no national journalists interviewed the President despite numerous attempts by local journalists to speak to President.
