The Catholic Bishop of the Diocese of Wau Matthew Remijio Adam says the centenary celebration is remarkable for the faithful.
This came during the celebration of St. Joseph that marked one hundred years since its establishment in 1923.
Bishop Remijio says the festival is not for the physical infrastructure of the church but for the faith of the people in the church.
He adds that Missionaries have left the legacy of evangelization, appreciating the parishioners for keeping the faith alive for 100 years.
Remijio Adam points out that since the church was opened in 1923 by the missionaries, the records show a high number of baptized faithful in the parish.
The Comboni mission was established to spread Christianity in South Sudan, and the mission of Kuajok was built in 1922 and opened in 1923 by the missionaries, Bishop Matthew says.
Adam tells the faithful that the 100 years of celebration of faith should challenge their way of life from the old unhealthy cultural practices and belief in the new culture of Christ Jesus.
We need to embrace the culture of love, dialogue, respect for human dignity, self-giving, and the spirit of hard work he appeals to the faithful.
The Catholic Bishop of the Diocese of Wau made these remarks to Media Houses in St. Joseph Parish in Kuajok.
