The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), the African Union, the United Nations Mission in South Sudan and R-JMEC have reiterated calls for speedy implementation of the peace agreement.

They encouraged signatories to the Revitalized Peace Agreement to renew full focus for the timely implementation of the roadmap.

The peace partners released a joint press statement on Sunday welcoming the meeting between President Salva Kiir and his deputy Dr. Riek Machar.

The two principals met on Friday last week to discuss the status of the Revitalized Agreement, the discussion ended without resolutions

This came after President Kiir issued a republican order that relieved Minister of Defence Angelina Teny and exchanged the ministries between the two main parties.

The AU, IGAD, and UNMISS encourage the parties to maintain collegial collaboration, continuous consultations, and consensus-building in the letter and spirit of the Revitalized Agreement.

The partners also reaffirm their full support for the efforts of all stakeholders and the leaders of South Sudan toward a peaceful process and the completion of the roadmap.
