Pilgrims from Wau arrive home after attending Pope’s visit in Juba

The Catholic Diocese of Wau has received its members who took part as Pope Francis visited South Sudan.

Vicar General Father Germano Barnando Baku says those who returned included choirs, catechists, youth, women, and the Catholic Men’s Association.

He points out that the journey was successful as the faithful who went to Juba came back without any problems.

Barnando Baku, expresses his gratitude to the Deputy Governor of Wau and the Governor of Aweil for financial support for the team who travelled to Juba.

He reveals that only 110 faithful managed to visit Juba out of 120 people who were expected to go.

Last Week, choirs, catechists, youth, women and the Catholic Men Association from the Catholic Diocese of Wau travelled to Juba to join the rest of the faithful.

Several Christians faithful traveled from their dioceses to attended the ecumenical prayers in Juba after global church leaders arrived in South Sudan.

Pope Francis arrived in South Sudan on Friday to fulfil his promise for a long-awaited “ecumenical pilgrimage” of peace for South Sudan along with the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, and the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, Iain Greenshields.
