The women’s Clergy of the South Sudan Council of Churches and South Sudan Islamic Council is calling parties to the revitalized agreement diligently and timely implement the road map.
Rebbecca Joshua Okwaci read the statement on behalf of the women’s Clergy and submitted their demands to the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, Iain Greenshields during ecumenical prayers on Saturday.
She urged the peace parties to eminently engage the non-signories to the peace agreement to ensure a smooth transition to a democratically elected government.
“We acknowledge and recognize the efforts that have been undertaken by the revitalized transitional government of national unity to implement the revitalized peace agreement on the resolution of conflict in South Sudan.” Rebecca Okwaci added.
Okwaci who is also a national MP appeals to the global ecumenical church leaders to persistently stick to their demand for peace, Justice, and unity to prevail in South Sudan.
“We urge the global ecumenical church leaders to persist in their demand for peace, Justice, and unity in the South.”
The women clergy says there is a need to prioritize the deployment of the unified forces and to expedite disarmament, through DDR to ensure the removal of arms weapons from the hands of civilians that are used to perpetrate arms, sexual agender based violence, and interclan violence in South Sudan.
The moderator of the general assembly of Scotland, Rt. Rev Lainn Greenshields, told Christians to desist from violent acts and reconcile to build the young nation, of South Sudan.
He also prayed for children, youth, and mothers who are the most directly affected by the crisis and disasters affecting the country.
First Vice President, Dr, Riak Machar Teny welcome the call from the women’s group.
He tasked the church leaders to kick start the process of disseminating the peace messages to the citizens of South Sudan.
Dr. Machar says the peace pilgrimage should be the starting point of how the processes of the peace agreement would reach the people at the grassroots and IDps despite community violence that still exists among them.

He lauded the church leadership who brought the pilgrimage of peace message to South Sudan saying it will strengthen and expedite the implementation of the remaining tasks in the revitalised peace agreement.
Senior government officials include First Vice President Dr. Riak Machar, and Vice President Taban Deng Gai were among thousand of Christians who attended the mass at the Presbyterian Church on Saturday.
The Mass was led by Rt. Rev Lainn Greenshields, the Moderator of the general assembly of Scotland accompanied Pope Francis together with the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby to South Sudan for an ecumenical and pilgrimage of peace mission.
