A prominent Catholic Church leader Cardinal Gabriel Zubeir Wako is concerned that lack of unity in South Sudan is delaying peace.
He says the division is caused by tribalism, cultural differences and it extends to families and church denominations
His Eminence Emeritus Wako from the Diocese of Khartoum calls upon citizens to put their faith in God.
He warns South Sudanese to settle their differences and move the country forward with togetherness.
“I am telling this to you as south Sudanese that the Notion of unity is not there, neither in the Nation, in the family, nor in serving enough in the church itself, because we are not looking for God or Jesus Christ but we are looking for tribes, villages and the colour, of which it is not what the father send his son Jesus in to the world to die of our sins,”Wako said.
Cardinal Wako says the division among South Sudanese has caused confusion in the whole country.
He says the nation will only be united if people work for the common goal of every citizen not individual interests.
The Cardinal urges politicians to stop preventing the unity of South Sudanese.
“No Unity because in that oneness we will find the goodness of our salvation and other people, because all of us are working for goodness of all but not for him/herself. May this massage of unity among the Christians not only something we knew but as a mission we want carry in this Country,” he added.
Cardinal Wako asks Christians to be united through prayer despite challenges facing in the Country.
He calls on believers to restore their faith in God through the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, holy Eucharist and matrimony for a better life.
“We received many sacrament such as Baptism, confirmation, holy Eucharist and matrimony and hopefully holy anointment when we are about to die, now with this sacrament that in us let us revive our spirits.”
His eminence Cardinal Gabriel Zubeir Wako was a former Archbishop of Khartoum metropolitan.
