The metropolitan Archbishop of Juba, Stephen Ameyu Martin is hopeful that the ecumenical visits of Pope Francis will promote peace in South Sudan.

He says his holiness coming into the country could cease away the head of the devil and allow peace implementation to flourish.

Bishop Ameyu who headed the Steering committee on the Papal visit briefed the media on preparedness to receive his holiness in February.

He says Pope’s Pilgrimage to South Sudan, is a significant gesture to reach the hearts of everyone including the politicians.

“I understand that the Holy Father is making this Pilgrimage in order really to reach our hearts personally and touch them with his prayers that the spirit of God should be a presence in our agreement,” he said.

The implementation of revitalization should not be talked words, but should be put under implementation in letter and spirit, “Arch-Bishop says.”

Archbishop Ameyu explained that South Sudanese will have a chance to hear the direct message of peace from the Pope through media and physically for those in Juba.

He added that the committee will engage security to reduce too many restrictions that could prevent people access the venues.

“We hope that the coming of the Holy Father will make us realise this aspect for peace in this Country,” said Ameyu.

He expects the coming of Pope Francis to bring the hearts of all South Sudanese including Church leaders, Politicians, women, and Children, and work for peace in the Country.

The chairperson of the Committee re-affirms the coming of the Holy Father as it was scheduled for date 03 to 05 February 2023 and only two weeks left to receive Pope Francis.

According to the Church arrangements, leaders and Christians from all the Dioceses across South Sudan will begin their journey by next week footing with prayers and fasting for peace in South Sudan.
