Authorities in Tombura County, Western Equatoria have reported a lack of medicines at the hospital citing an increasing population.

Last year hundreds of civilians were killed, properties were destroyed and thousands were displaced due to violence among the armed youth.

Officials say Internally displaced persons are returning to their homes after security improved making the population in the area higher.

Commissioner of Tombura County Hon. Mathew Mabenge, has called on the State, and National Governments, to support the County with medications to save the lives of the needy people.

Mabenge who is also the Chair of the Internal peace committee is urging politicians not to turn their anger on civilians in South Sudan.

Early this year, the government of Western Equatoria State formed an Internal Peace Committee to disseminate peace messages and reconciliation among the two ethnic groups living in Tambura County.

“To the politicians, enough is enough. No room for you here in Tambura County. The type of politics Tombura is looking now for is development, not bloodshed.

“Balanda and Azande are now for peace, I can confirm to you that we have relevant peace because our people from IDPs Camp are returning to their residential areas.”

The County is taking steps to facilitate peace, the Commissioner says.

“The County is ready to host a peace conference which is going to be held next month, where politicians of Tombura County will be coming together to solve their grievances in County headquarter.”
