Lack of Secondary school has dismayed a local government Administrator in Mongalla payam Central Equatoria.

The official says thousands of children are studies their primary education in the area but couldn’t go further to advance education.

Hilary Lokudu Muhamad, Executive Director of Mongalla Payam says the place has two primary schools, one established by government and a church based institution.

The administrator says his payam is high populated, both host community and internally displaced persons but no single secondary school for their children.

Hilary states that it is very challenging for families who cannot afford to take their children to complete Juba secondary school in Juba or other states.

“It is a challenge because when a child completes his or her primary school here, he or she is expected to go to Juba for secondary school education. But because maybe the parents don’t have relatives there then the child will end up here without going to secondary school.”

He adds that there is a proposal of secondary school by the community of Mangalla to ARC and the land has been demarcated waiting for the project to start.

“We need secondary school here in Mangalla and as I talk to you now, there is a proposal from the community to ARC Company to build a secondary school for the children of Mangalla. They have accepted that, the land is already allocated, what we are waiting is to kick off with the project.”

He urges the community of Mongalla to cooperate with the government for the development of the payam.

The State Ministry of Education is yet to respond on the concerned raised.
