The Director of the Police Special Protection Unit is calling on citizens of South Sudan to refrain from bad behaviors that could lead the country to war ahead of the plan election in 2024.
Brig. James Tak Carlo, spoke during a strategic dialogue to commemorate the international day for democracy on Thursday in juba. He says change is always realised through personal socialisation toward others.
Gen. Tak argued that changing mindset or behavior doesn’t need education, it’s the citizens’ national duty for the love of the country.
“We are in our mid to go for election, and we may repeat the same tyrant. So, for change, it will start with us. Change is not built-in skyscrapers.”
Carlo also highlighted the mandate of the Police to protect the life of the citizen and their properties, combat terrorism, and uphold the rule of law in the country.
He further questioned the rampant ammunition in the hands of cattle rustlers and civilians despite the country undergoing an arms embargo.
“What is cattle raid, where do the cattle raiders get the guns, we don’t manufacture guns and ammunition, we have an arms embargo and they are fighting throughout, where do these bullets come from”? Carlo Asked.
The senior Police officer reiterated the government’s effort to mitigate the presence of arms in the hand of civilians.
