Sudan and South Sudan Bishops’ secretariat in Juba has received Five thousand US dollars from Kush Bank to improve the security through putting concrete fen at Bishop conference.
The Auxiliary Bishop of Juba, Santo Loku Pio says the support came as a good relationship between the bank and the church.
Santo says the money will be used to finish the fen of the secretariats’ compound and boast the security stronger.
Bishop revealed that the donation will also benefit the communities through the shops which will be for the people to rent at a low cost.
“The local donation means self relying on our bank supporting to grow because in the past the Church was looked in to like a foreign body and all our people have been believed are to be receiving donations from the Holy Father or the Pope even the simple Rosary people would like it for free and this is what affected our Church unfortunately not like other Churches in East and West Africa,” he said.
Laku calls on the management of the bank to continue supporting the Church not only in Juba but also in other Churches across South Sudan.
The Secretary General of Sudan and South Sudan Bishop Conference Fr. Peter Suleiman says the bank decided to help the secretariat after the thieves looted the church compound.
In May, Unknown men broke into Catholic Bishops’ Conference offices at night and walked away with computers, money, and other essential equipment containing important documents.
Fr. Suleiman says the donation will help the secretariats to contract professional security guards to protect the compound.
” I know Kuch Bank deal with development and I approached them after the issue of a robbery that had happened on 24, May 2022. We discovered the weakness of the robberies coming in and we came up with the resolution of improving the fans to control the movement and also to employ the well-trained security guards,” said Fr. Suleiman.
Ryan O’Grady the chief Executive officer of Kush Bank South Sudan says their imitative is to promote development in the country through local partners.
“I look at it big about how it’s going to benefit us as a Bank and more how it’s going to benefit South Sudan as a Country. We have a responsibility to help, build South Sudan. So each time when we make a donation we look at what’s the impact on the Communities.
Kush Bank pledged to work with the church and create job opportunities for local people in Juba.
