Migration Official in the Directorate of Civil Registry, Nationality, Passport and Immigration says human smugglers are planning to use South Sudan as one of the major routes for human trafficking in the region.
Speaking during the review of 2018 South Sudan Comprehensive Migration Policy in Juba on Tuesday, Director General, Atem Marol says, they have realised traffickers mainly targets for their activities.
Meanwhile, Assistant Inspector General for Border Police, Dr. Olaw Adiang Nijok highlighted some of the challenges interfering with their duties, noting that the unit is overwhelmed by these challenges.
Fitriana Nur, the Program Coordinator for Migration Management Unit at the International Organization for Immigration (IOM), explains that South Sudan has deprived border management system.
The officials could not give a well verified data on incidents of trafficking in the country during press time.
