Almost two thousand households reportedly abandoned their homes this week following the attack by the cattle herders on the civil population in Mugali Payam in Magwi County of Eastern Equatoria State.
According to Nzara Boma Chief in Nimule, Ebale John, they registered one thousand, nine hundred forty-three households with seven thousand, eight hundred ninety-four individuals, Radio Emmanuel reported.
He says the Internally Displaced Persons or IDPs who are currently accommodated at the Church of Christ compound in Nzara are in dire need of humanitarian assistance.
“Here in Nzara, we are receiving displaced people from Mugali. We have right now registered 1,943 then dependent we have registered 7,894. The situation right now is really alarming. They need food, shelter and general sanitation is needed for them. They are accommodated there in the church of Christ compound”, he appeals.
Mugali Head chief, Azo John says on Tuesday this week, the cattle herders went to Masindi area and started firing bullets on civilians killing five people.
He says the assaulters threw three bodies into River Aswa, but they found two bodies out of five who were killed.
“These are cattle herders, on Tuesday they went to Masindi Boma then they started shooting people, others were killed and others were arrested and they were taken to Boma, three were killed and thrown into water and there are two dead bodies which we found”, the chief laments.
The officials were speaking to Radio Emmanuel on Saturday.
