International Women’s day is one of the most remarkable events because it is a call of action for every woman, explains Ayaa Benjamin Warile, national Minister of Gender, Child and Social Welfare.

While addressing the Day at Nyakuron Cultural Centre in Juba on Tuesday, she calls on women to raise up against gender violence because almost every year cases of violence against women are increasing.

The undersecretary of Gender, Child and Social Welfare, Esther Ikere Eluzai, says the celebration is to remember the hard work and efforts of women either at home or at their places of work despite all challenges encountered.

“This event just like any other is to remind all the females that despite all the difficulties of life, they are still the representatives of the nation”, she explains.

The nation Ministry of Gender, Child and Social Welfare of South Sudan on the 8th of March 2022 celebrated international women’s day at Nyakuron to remind women about their journey in the social, economic, cultural and political spheres of life.

The global theme of the celebration was “breaking the bias” while the national theme is “Gender equality for future sustainability: Promote and celebrate women and girls’ achievements and resilience!”.
