“Fr. John used me to write letter to Rome for his installation”, witness reveals

The fourth witness to the case of Bishop-elect revealed to Juba High Court on Friday that Fr. John Mathiang Machol, who is the first accused, ordered him in 2016 to write to Rome while lobbying for Bishop’s position in Rumbek.

Jonah Marier Mabeny, youth coordinator in the Diocese of Rumbek disclosed to Judge Alexander Subek Sebur that Fr Mathiang mobilized youth in September 2011 to support him to be the Bishop of Rumbek.

He added that Fr. Mathiang made several attempts to kill Fr. Don Bosco, former director of Good News Radio.

Marrier revealed that Fr Mathiang also threatened Fr. Andrea Osman Okello not to preach to the congregation that, “don’t kill because of position”.

The next hearing by Justice Alexander Subek Sebur will be on Monday 21 February 2022.
