The four-day training on child protection, mental health and psychosocial support activities in schools and communities to Caritas Torit staff and volunteers ends with a call to fair treatment of children in the society.

The training organized by War Child Holland with support from UNICEF, was to strength partners to better understand child protection issues and psychosocial needs of the children experiencing distress in the schools and communities, Radio Emmanuel reported.

Participant, Sisto Lokaro Victor, says he will adopt the knowledge gained to help the community in handling child protection issues.

“I can talk to our people to make sure that children should be treated in a way that should harm them so that we can realize their future in a good way. So this training is actually equipped so that we go in the community and talk to our community and give psychosocial support to our community so that they can recover from this trauma”, he vows.

Haditha Esther who attended the training says she will help the community by creating awareness on child protection.

“I will select some of the community leaders or members and train them on how to identify these cases of CP-MHPSS in the community. I will also give them awareness on Child Protection issue because it is here majorly affecting people in the community”, she also promises.

They made the statements to Radio Emmanuel on Saturday after the end of the four-day training on child protection, mental health and psychosocial support activities in schools and communities.
