A member of Lakes Legislative Assembly representing Wulu County Chadrack Bol Macok calls on the national government to quickly send a team of health experts to the state to examine the cause of death and wounds on the fish species as it was done in Northern Bhar el Ghazal in November last year.

The call came after the MP visited his constituency last week and discovered that fishermen in the area complain about the dying fish species in the river, Good News Radio reported.

Bol related the situation he witnesses in his constituency is the same like cases reported in Nyamlel in Northern Bhar el Ghazal State.

He also said some members of the August House like Bhar gel River shared a similar scenario with him of fish experiencing a catastrophe in the river.

MP Bol appealed to the national government to urgently dispatch the same group of facts finding that was sent to Northern Bhar el Ghazal to Lakes state to access the fishing points and know causes of soars on fish.

Last year in December, Northern Bahr el Ghazal health authorities banned all fishing activities after huge numbers of fish were found dead with strange wounds along the Lol River in Aweil Center, Aweil West, Aweil North, and Aweil East counties.

The ministry also cautioned locals against eating such fish until results from ongoing investigations confirm that the fish is fit for consumption.

Lakes state also experience similar cases of fish with strange wounds in some of its fishing points.
