Central Equatoria Education Minister urges teachers to resume lessons

Central Equatoria Minister of Education has called on the striking teachers in the state to resume teaching.

Cirisio Zachariah Lodu made the call after the council of ministers meeting on Thursday aimed at resolving teachers’ grievances.

He told Bakhita Radio that the council of ministers resolved that teachers be paid all their salaries and incentives.

Central Equatoria State Professional Teachers’ Secretary-General, Justin Walak Thomas Justin responded that teachers need clarification on how and when the salaries and allowances will be paid.

He added that teachers will not resume work until they receive official communication from authorities.

For a month now teachers of public schools in the state have laid down their tools due to no salary increments and allowances, prompting students from public schools to gather at the Ministry of Education building demanding teaching
