The High Court of South Sudan in Juba on Wednesday adjourned the case of Bishop-elect of the Catholic Diocese of Rumbek Monsignor Christian Carlassare to February 03, 2022.
Vicar General of Rumbek Catholic Diocese, Fr Andrea Osman, told Catholic Radio Network that it was the Presiding Judge, who declared the adjournment without telling reasons.
Malith Jok Thiang Wundit, defense lawyer of six suspects on the attempt murder, says the first session today, Wednesday was meant for bringing the accused from the security office to Juba Central Prison so that the court hearings can proceed normally.
Bishop-elect Monsignor Christian Carlassare was appointed on March 2021 and his Episcopal Ordination was scheduled for Pentecost Sunday, 23 May 2021, but it was postponed as the investigation into his attack goes forward.
Monsignor Carlassare was shot in both legs on April 26, 2021 in Rumbek Catholic Diocese and was flown to Nairobi, Kenya for treatment and later he was taken to Italy for further medical attention.
