The community in Ayii-Kit Boma in Iwire Payam of Magwi County are worried over the influx of cattle in their area.

Radio Emmanuel quoted Member of Parliament, Constituency number 27 representing Magwi County, Peter Otim Carlo disclosing that the cattle arrived in the area on Sunday.

He explains that the cattle entered Ayii from the side of Aru junction along the Juba-Nimule highway; and now the community is worried over destruction of their crops.

“There is an influx of cattle in Ayii Boma, it was on Sunday. The community are concerned because of their crops some of their crops are still in the field, cassava are still in the field. You know always when cattle come into an area there will be a lot of destruction. They crossed from Central Equatoria which is Aru area and they entered into Eastern Equatoria area, I have raise the issue to the commissioner and the commissioner will raise it to the governor this is the procedure”, MP Otim says.

The Member of Parliament says the issue of cattle is now beyond the hand of local chiefs that is why they forwarded the issue to the paramount chief and the paramount chief is to report to the county commissioner.

“this is now beyond the chiefs of the local area and the local chiefs have already raise the issue to the paramount chief and the paramount chief also in turn has raise it to the commissioner”, he complains.

Two years back, Ayii-kit Boma chief was killed in a dispute between the cattle keepers that invaded the area and the indigenous community.

In 2017 President Salva Kiir ordered all cattle keepers to move their livestock out of the greater Equatoria region and take to their original places.
