A seven-year-old boy survives death in Nimule after accidentally shooting himself with his father’s gun on Friday last week.

According to Police Inspector in Nimule town Major David Casmiro, the father of the child left his gun in the house, the child picked it and shot himself in the stomach.

The child is currently in Nimule hospital for treatment.

“The father to this child is among the wounded soldiers and he is a charcoal dealer in Ashwa, he left the gun cocked in the house and he went to the bush, behind him the son took the gun, and because children do not know the danger of gun, he took the gun and shot himself in the stomach all the intestine were out but the doctors help him he did not die, he survived”, the inspector explains.

Major Casmiro appeals to all organised forces to keep their guns far away for the safety of both children and adults.

“There is one of the organised forces belonging to the artillery department who came from Moli, he came from Moli and shot himself in the night without any clear reason and he left no information, he just shot himself and died. My message is to every organised forces that we know the dangers of the guns, most of the guns are old sometimes when cocking it will not hold itself, but I am telling our soldiers who have guns, they should separate the guns from the bullets for the safety of the family and the children” Major Casmiro appeals

The speaker talked to Radio Emmanuel in a telephone interview on Monday.
