Appointment of female deputy mayor improves 35%, says activist

The Executive Director of Women Training and Development Organization or WOTAP in Western Bhar El Ghazal on Friday said 35 percent in the Transitional Government is improving with the appointment of Deputy Mayor as female.

Linda Ferdinand Hussein says that the 35% percent chances have given qualified women positions in the government which she describes as a great achievement, Voice of Hope Radio reported.

The activist says they are still advocating and lobbing for 35% affirmative in all sections in and implementation of 40% of the SPLM-IO.

She urges men not to interfere in women’s affairs, but only support them in implementing the quota.

The official made this remark to Voice of Hope Radio in Wau, Western Bahr el Ghazal State.
