Governor of Eastern Equatoria Louis Lobong Lojore called on citizens in the state to stay in peace to allow free movement of people to rural areas.
He says it is a collective responsibility of every citizen and the government to maintain the security in the state, Radio Emmanuel reported.
Lobong says the New Year is for peace, development and hard work.
“People of Eastern Equatoria State, we want peace, we move with peace in our village, we are the ones responsible for the issue of our security, and I spoke a lot in Hiyala, Tirangore and even in Lopit and some other places and I want to repeat here, your government of the state is standing with you, I repeat again that this dry season and this new year is for peace, development and hard working”, he stresses.
The governor says the government is working hard to ensure that criminals disturbing peace in the state are arrested to face justice.
He calls on politicians to stop fuelling conflict for people to return home and prepare for cultivation and elections.
“In this year we will arrest criminals robbing, stealing, and killing people to face the law, your government is free to get any information from you in case if there is anyone who want to cause problem, fighting is enough we have tried, I also tell our politicians agitation is enough, trying people all this time, let us leave chance to our people so that our people who went somewhere should come back, and let us prepare ourselves for cultivation, elections”, he states.
The head of state says there is a strong relationship between the government and the church.
He adds that there is need for team work to deliver services, bring peace and unity as a common goal for citizens in Eastern Equatoria state and South Sudan.
“There is strong relationship between the government and the church because we are all talking about one direction, so the church and the government is ours and the people are ours there is need of working together for the common good of the people, his Grace we shall be working with the Catholic Church to deliver services, bring peace, and unity to the people of Eastern Equatoria”, he vows.
The Governor made the statement during ordination mass at our Lady of the Holy Rosary Parish on January 1st 2022 on Saturday.
