Short of human resource including medical supply hits Torit State Hospital, according to Francis Iwa Andruga, Hospital Administrator.

Radio Emmanuel quoted him saying they do not have enough nurses and laboratory technicians, making work difficult in the hospital.

He says the supply they receive is not enough because they receive little supply.

‘Our main challenges in the hospital is lack of human resources, we don’t have enough nurses, not enough lab technicians that could cover the Job as expected because for us to deliver services that patients require, we need to have all things in place but when staff are not enough then quality service cannot be delivered as expected and also we have challenges in terms of supply, you know supply these days do not come regularly, we receive also very little items compared to the items we used to receive those years, last year we had a lot of challenges concerning the supply because most of the medicines, if they are supplied, they are in very little quantity so it makes it very difficult to help the patients’, the administrator complains.

Iwa worries that referrals from the hospital is likely to be disrupted as the ambulance is not in good condition.

He says the hospital has got only one ambulance for referrals from all counties.

‘And also in terms of referral, our ambulance is the only one in the county and it is now working all over, covering the whole of the counties and it is becoming old, we are worried in case this ambulance breaks down then it is going to be a big problem to evacuate patients from places of accidents or even refer them for better management like taking them to Juba’, he laments.

The Hospital Administrator says the hospital with support from government; Ministry of Health and CORDAID are doing their best to ensure the hospital runs smoothly to provide services to the people.

‘The hospital has very limited resources that it is depending on that they are getting from thyme government, Ministry of Health and Finance and it is now the one making us move on and our IP CORDAID they are actually doing a lot in terms of supporting the hospital but at times, you know this system of NGOs when you put a request it may take longer but in the hospital we are trying our best to see that the hospital continue to give the best services to the people’

The speaker made the remarks to Radio Emmanuel in Torit State Hospital on Monday.
