A priest in the Catholic Diocese of Torit has called on the faithful to have equal respect for one another.

Fr. Santino Lounoi in his message on Sunday told Christians that those who promote peace in the society can bring changes.

“We respect powerful people and we fear powerful people those who use violence, but the word of God is trying to teach us something the power of simplicity the power of peace, that is what Jesus is trying to teach us the power of simplicity and the power of peace, the real people who bring changes in to the world are simple people, are people who speak about peace, are people who advocate for nonviolence, the simplicity of Jesus and the prophet is talking about this simplicity  it is not only powerful people or somebody who is addressing that can bring peace No”

The priest added that peace can reign in the country through soft power approach and a convincing language to solve disputes.

“So promotion of peace is what Jesus Christ is telling, is a very difficult project for us human being to really believe that we can only bring peace by talking we can only convince to change things by talking in a simple way  what we call the soft power approach not the hard power approach the soft power approach is when you know you have to discuss you tell people who are fighting you set down and iron out your differences the hard power is when we use gun that is the thing so this morning I will invite us to pray for peace in this Country and pray for peace in our communities to pray for peace in our family and pray for peace in our State”.

The Catholic Priest was giving his homily to the worshipers during the second mass at Sts. Peter and Paul Cathedral on Sunday.
