One person is confirmed dead and another wounded in Mura-Hatiha village of Hiyala Payam in Torit County.
Torit County Commissioner, Jacob Atari, says the incident occurred at around 5:30 PM when unidentified group of suspected criminals attacked women who were collecting soil to smear their houses.
He says investigation is ongoing to find out the whereabouts of the perpetrators.
“The incident happened late evening around 5:30 PM,some criminals came and shot two women, one person is dead and the other is wounded, the Monyomiji are currently tracing the footmarks and the footmarks is heading in the direction between Loming and Lalanga”.
Jacob Atari calls on all the communities in the county to stop revenge killings and embrace peace and unity.
‘it is very unfortunate that the people of Mura-hatiha have been staying for so long without having problems with anybody, this is happening for the first time; for the last four years, they have been peacefully, I always tell my people that they should stay in peace, you know revenge killing is something not good and people must put an end to it’
The Commissioner was speaking to Radio Emmanuel through telephone interview.
