A youth leader in Torit Eastern Equatoria State has advised the public, to embrace unity to get rid of tribalism in South Sudan.

Urupi David Uywek blames leaders for not considering the interest of citizens, but creating tribalism among people.

“Tribalism does not come alone, it comes from the leaders. The person who is in charge, is not considering the interest of the people, so we want to tell to our listeners that let us open our eyes widely and take tribalism away that is why tribalism is the one that bring burden in our homes, we are talking because in all part of South Sudan people are talking about tribalism, as now we have realized that there is tribalism in the country, what can we do now? Let us work together so that we totally erase tribalism in our minds”, said the youth leader.

Inter-Church Council women representative, Eunice Nakiru, asks church leaders to take the lead in promoting unity, for citizens to copy from them.

“Let us stop tribalism and let us know that a midst us, we have minority and let us also know that tribe is still South Sudan, let us bring that tribe together with us, let us love another and embrace togetherness. We the people of the church we are the one that can bring changes but why are we the church, let us change our life so that the people of this nation see from us, let us be people that can bring real peace in South Sudan. Unity in South Sudan should be seen from us, let us leave tribalism to those who do not know the word of God”, said Nakiru.

Rev Franco Abu-John says it is the responsibility of every South Sudanese to prioritize unity.

He says no one will come from outside to resolve South Sudan problems.

“There is no body who will come from outside and put us in order, it is us to set our house in order, so my messages to the community is that whether we are in the political wing or in government, we need a government to iron their cases that the difference between them let them iron peacefully and come together in unity because the land that we are staying in it is South Sudan God has given on to us it is not belong to one tribe it belong to us all”,Rev Abu stressed .

The speakers made the remarks during the Ethnicity and Peace Building discussion with Radio Emmanuel.
