The Catholic Archbishop of Juba Archdiocese, appeals to youth to participate in the upcoming bishops’ synod, which was launched by Pope Francis last month.

Archbishop Stephen Ameyu Martin notes that the synod is not only for the bishops.

“So the older members of the Church should listen to the young people, we must listen to you, especially now that the Holy Father has announced the synod of the bishops, this is not the synod of the bishops’ alone, but this is the synod that the bishops’ should consult their people, consult their people from young people until the old people and so this is an opportunity for you as young people because God is now with you”, Archbishop added.

The synod aims at discussing how Christians would want the Church to be.

“I have private your leader from including the question of the synod for you to discuss because I thought it’s too early for you to begin with synod and so we will begin first of all with council of the priests and then later on you will also participate in the synod of the bishops’, so this synod is to renew the life of the Church, and so I wish next time when you come you will have to discuss what kind of Church you would like”.

He calls on the young people to open their hearts to God and sacrifice their lives to Him to receive blessings.

The Archbishop did not disclose when the bishops’ synod will start in South Sudan, as the rest of the countries have already launched theirs’ last month.

The metropolitan made his remarks during the opening of archdiocesan youth conference at kit.

It was under the Theme: “The Greatest among You, Must Be a Servant”.
