Cargo Plane crashes near Juba International Airport

The Director General of South Sudan’s Juba International Airport has reported that, a cargo plane crashed near the airport, shortly after taking off today [Tuesday] morning.

Kur Kuol told Bakhita Radio on phone interview that, the cargo plane was taking goods to Malakal, when the incident happened.

He says a team has been sent on the ground, to collect more details.

An investigation report into several planes that crashed in South Sudan has not been made public.

In March this year, another commercial airplane belonging to the South Supreme Airline, crashed in Pieri area of Nyirol of Uror County in Jonglei State, killing around ten people.

In August last year, a commercial plane also crashed in Kemeru area of Juba, shortly after taking off from Juba International Airport, killing at least seven people.

Also, in September 2018, a chartered Let-410 UVP crashed into Lake Shambe in Yirol, Lakes state, also killing at least 20 people, including an Anglican Bishop.
