IGAD to support non-violence peace programs in South Sudan

The Inter-Governmental Authority on Development or IGAD has expressed its readiness to support peace activities in the country.

Special Advisor envoy to South Sudan, Khalifa Shabell, says as part of IGAD’s mandate for peace in the country, the door is always opened.

He adds that peace is not only the responsibility of the government but requires a collective effort.

EU Ambassador to South Sudan, Christian Bader, has expressed disappointment over continues violence and destruction of property.

Meanwhile, head of Non-violence Peace force in South Sudan, Thiago Wolfer, says it is always very important to work with partners.

The officials were addressing the media during the national Peace conference under the theme “Let’s support nonviolent approaches to resolving conflict”.
