Artist calls for inclusion of Arts & Craft in South Sudan Curriculum

A self-employed Artist working for -Billo Arts and Design is calling for inclusion of Arts & Craft in the South Sudan School Curriculum.

Opiyo Innocent Obonyo calls on Artists within Eastern Equatoria State to upgrade their skills in arts section to compete with outsiders.

He advises youths not to undermine Art work.

“I am so happy because art is the one keeping me, making me meet daily activities, and to at least help my people and people around me and the community as a whole, so am very proud to be within the art [section]. My words to my fellow people who are doing the same thing, or others who have interest, this thing we don’t have to undergraduate, is good, but only that the knowledge which we have, we have also to upgrade abide so that we compete with other people”.

He appeals to the government to initiate the Arts and Designs subject in the curriculum in order to support youths who cannot do best in academics.

“mostly I will talk on the schools, if government can introduce this subjects also in the school because not all students they are very perfect in mind in terms of education others is gifted things to do with arts or football or Athletes, so those are things which you are gifted, so once you are somehow not much doing well with the books, so other things can support you make your life come better, so if government can see also let them consider arts as something which  is fruitful for the future of anyone who see admire it can do but not to neglect it”.

The speaker made the remarks to Radio Emmanuel in an exclusive interview.
