Central Equatoria State Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture is appealing to Juba City Council to cooperate with traders to avoid problems in demolishing shops.
Chamber Chairperson, Robert Pitya Francis on Wednesday told Journalists that they are concerned with the ongoing demolition of shops around Juba without giving traders time to relocate their businesses.
Pitya says the government should look for right way and resolve the problem of the traders because it is there for the people and to work for the people.
The chairperson of Chamber of Commerce asks Juba City Council to know that there are some issues that needs cooperation because it will affect traders and it will not pay for the lost that they are doing to the traders.
Chairperson of Juba City Chamber of Commerce Industry and Agriculture Stephen Wani says they held several meetings with Mayor Kalisto Lodu, but is not implementing their resolutions.
“We have been with Mayor for several times, we sat and we discussed a lot of issues concerning what is happening now, unfortunately some times after we conclude the meeting, he is continuing with his activities without engaging us, and actually most of the outcomes of our meeting are not implemented”, he reveals.
Wani says it is not bad demolish the shops without prior information to owners, because the government should first plan to see how it will affect the people.
