A nutritionist of Tonj Civil Hospital on Tuesday advised mothers to be giving children varieties of food to boost their immunity in fighting childhood diseases.
John Machar Deng said only infants below six months should never be given eatable food, but only breast milk, Don Bosco Radio reported.
He cautioned the mothers against giving babies below six months food because it will drastically affect the child.
Nutritionist explained that breastfeeding a child is very vital for six months giving soup of meat, fish and some vegetables and some fruits are recommended to give energy and protection for healthy growth.
Machar urged people not to misuse the prescribed drugs and avoid giving drugs of one child to a brother or sister
Tonj Civil Hospital Nutrition department in collaboration with humanitarian agencies supply outskirts villages with nutritious food, medicines like to help children suffering out the town including Mabior Yar, Malual Muok and Manyangok.
