The Catholic Bishops of South Sudan advise all people in the country to receive the covid-19 jab and take health measures seriously to prevent corona virus pandemic.

Archbishop Stephen Ameyu Mulla of Juba, while releasing Bishops’ pastoral message on Wednesday, discouraged people from hearing misleading information about the ineffectiveness of AstraZeneca vaccines.

“We urge people not to be misled by fake news about the ineffectiveness of vaccines. We are adhering ourselves with the Holy Father and many Catholic Bishops Conferences in advising everybody to receive the vaccination and to take sensible precaution such as wearing of face masks and social distancing”, the Archbishop voiced.

He quoted Pope Francis saying that “getting the vaccine is an act of love and a propound way of promoting the common role and caring for others especially the most vulnerable”.

The Catholic bishops urge the government and people to protect the environment and all creatures of God.

“As South Sudan experiences floods and environmental pollution, deforestation and decline of wildlife, we recall that care of creation is another of the values of Catholic Social Teachings, we call on our government and citizens to protect and nurture God’s creation”, the Archbishops stressed.
