South Sudan Catholic Bishops’ on Tuesday started their meeting in Juba to discuss Pope’s documents on the upcoming Synod of Bishops in October.
Archbishop Stephen Ameyu Martin Mulla of Juba says in his opening remarks that the Bishops can set a very vital block to avoid challenges on religion and secular spheres.
He adds that they need to have lay apostolate to boost the work of the Catholic Church.
Archbishop Ameyu cites that covid-19 affected their work since 2020, but the Bishops managed to reopen St Paul’s national Major Seminary with the help of partners.
He reminds the Bishops not to forget the responsibility Pope Francis gave them on the Synodal Church reflected on the spiritual union, contribution and mission.
Earlier Secretary-General of South Sudan Catholic Bishops’ Secretariat, Charles Abbud, welcome participants to deliberate and come out with one voice for the voiceless.
The meeting that started on Tuesday is discussing implementation of the revitalized agreement, Youth ministries at all levels, Documents of Pope on the Synod of Bishops, health and humanitarian issues.
The meeting of the South Sudan Catholic Bishops’ is expected to end on Wednesday.
