Western Equatoria State Minister of Information, William Baiki, says the security situation in Tombura County continues to deteriorate.

He told Radio Bakhita by mobile telephone on Wednesday that people in the area are living in fear and all shops are closed opened in the past one week.

Baiki adds that the people in the area have not been able to go to their farms for the past week.

The minister calls on the state authorities to relocate the forces of the SPLM-IO in Namatina to Lirongu so that the situation can be conducive for the civilians

Minister Baiki reveals that state authorities formed a committee to assess the situation and come out with a recommendation to resolve the incident.

Religious leaders in Western Equatoria over the weekend, blamed the state and national governments for failing to end the ongoing atrocities against civilians in Tambura County.

Local authorities estimate that nearly 200 people have been killed and about 30,000 others displaced between June and August in Tombura following inter-communal fighting in the area.
